Day 1 – Bucharest – Peleș Castle – Brașov
After breakfast, I will pick you up from your location in Bucharest and we will head north towards the scenic Prahova Valley, crossing into Transylvania.
Our main stop will be at Peleș Castle, the stunning former summer residence of Romania’s royal family. Built in the late 19th century in a Neo-Renaissance style, Peleș is widely considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. Its lavish interiors, elaborate woodwork, and collection of fine art and weaponry offer a fascinating glimpse into royal life at the time.
In the late afternoon, we arrive in Brașov, one of Romania’s most picturesque medieval cities. Here, you’ll enjoy a walking tour of the historical center, with highlights including the Black Church, Council Square, Rope Street, and remnants of the old defensive walls and towers.
Accommodation in Brașov.
Day 2 – Bran Castle – Rhein Cellars Azuga – Bucharest
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Bran Castle, just a short ride from Brașov. Known worldwide as Dracula’s Castle, it was originally built as a fortress in the 14th century and later became a royal residence. The castle impresses with its medieval architecture, narrow staircases, and mysterious atmosphere, all surrounded by spectacular mountain views.
From Bran, we continue to Azuga, a former royal winemaking town located on the Prahova Valley. Here, we’ll visit the Rhein Cellars, established in 1892 and once the official supplier of sparkling wine to the Romanian royal court. The visit includes a guided tour of the historic cellars, where you’ll learn about the traditional method of sparkling wine production, followed by a tasting of several premium wines, including their award-winning brut varieties.
In the afternoon, we return to Bucharest, where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation.
Designed also with consideration for senior tourists seeking an accessible and enjoyable experience.
