Detailed Itinerary
Are you limited to just one day in Sighisoara and want to make the most of your time?
Embark on a serene journey through the Hungarian part of Transylvania, where over 80% of the population are Szeklers (Hungarians).
Your private tour begins with a convenient pick-up from your accommodation in Sighisoara.
We will start our journey with a visit to the charming mountain retreat of Sovata, located 55 kilometers from Sighisoara at the foothills of the Eastern Carpathians. Sovata is the heart of Transylvania’s Salt Country, home to a captivating lake formed in 1875 by a convergence of meteorological, hydrological, and geological events. Spanning 40,235 square meters with an average depth of 10 meters, Lake Ursu stands as Europe’s largest heliothermal lake. While the surface temperature typically ranges from 10–20°C, it can reach 40–50°C at a depth of 1.5 meters—and it gets even warmer at the bottom. This is due to its unique salinity stratification, which varies between 100–300 g/l and enables visitors to float effortlessly. Lake Ursu is truly like a miniature sea nestled among the mountains, surrounded by pristine forests. If you think this sounds amazing, just wait until you see the rest of this extraordinary place!
Next, we continue to Corund (Korond), one of the most renowned artisan villages in Transylvania. Known for its centuries-old pottery tradition, Corund is a vibrant hub of Székely folk art. Here, you will meet local craftspeople and witness firsthand how the famous blue and white ceramics are created—an opportunity to understand and appreciate the beauty and symbolism behind these traditional motifs. In addition, we’ll visit the Aragonite Museum, where you can learn about this rare and colorful mineral unique to the region, its fascinating geology, and its use in traditional jewelry and decor.
Our journey continues to Odorheiul Secuiesc (Székelyudvarhely), where we will explore Mini Transylvania Park, the only multicultural, thematic mock-up park in Romania. This open-air exhibition features over 80 miniature replicas of Transylvania’s most iconic castles, fortified churches, mansions, and other architectural landmarks, many of which are listed as national heritage sites or part of the UNESCO World Heritage. It’s a perfect way to gain an overview of the region’s diverse and layered history in one compact and beautifully curated space.

Last, but certainly not least, I invite you to experience one of the most celebrated gastronomies in the world—Hungarian cuisine. We’ll enjoy lunch at my favorite restaurant in Transylvania, located right here in Odorheiul Secuiesc. Prepare to indulge in incredibly flavorful dishes, including some rare culinary treasures that are almost impossible to find elsewhere in Europe.
This itinerary has also been thoughtfully designed for senior travelers, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout the day.
At the end of the tour, you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation in Sighisoara or the surrounding area.
